LT77 – Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) LT230 – EP90. R380 – MTF94. LT85 – 20w50. LT95 – 20w50. Whilst changing the oil in my Land Rover Gearbox I noticed that the Main ‘box was low on oil but the Transfer ‘box was overfilled, why? It is very common for the seal between the Main and Transfer ‘boxes to fail. Stage 2 - Get the box Megaflushed and change either the whole Radiator (About £250 for the Rad) or install a separate Autobox Oil Cooler (About £120) This will stop further contamination. Stage 3 - your fluid is so contaminated, it has damaged the Torque Converter in the AutoBox. You need to have the gearbox removed and a refurbished Torque 1. The front axle has no drive, possible half shaft broken. 2. The transfer box is giving no drive to rear prop, cause unkown. I thought the disco discovery like all other 4x4's are permament 4 wheelsdrive therfore if the front prop is turning then the rear prop should turn as well. This Land Rover gear selector, also fitted to some Jaguar models, suffers from internal component defects that will prevent the dial from rising, falling and Start the engine. Run the engine idle for 20 seconds. Shift into first gear. Rev the engine for 20 seconds to ensure transmission fluid is circulating in that gear. Shift into second gear.
